Working for Public Health Foundation of India

DONE BY: Ayesha P | Stanford U. '21

LENGTH: 4 months

LOCATION: New Delhi, India

DESCRIPTION OF WORK/ACTIVITIES DONE:

Desk work (literature review); going through databases, coding findings, assisted your PI in running Southeast Asia Regional Meeting at the WHO (running a workshop on monitoring the health-related sustainable development goals)

HOW MANY HOURS OF WORK DID YOU DO PER WEEK? 30

TOP TIPS:

At first, I had no idea what I was doing; the projects were sort of given to me, and I had to rise to it. Do things that are within your spheres of interest, but not within your comfort zone.

MOST MEANINGFUL LESSON TAKEN AWAY:

Learned how social science research operates, and learned that I really like doing it. Had a really inspirational mentor for the first time; someone who isn't just a teacher, but whose whole attitude toward doing meaningful work is something that I think is worth emulating.
