CISCRP: Center for Information and Research on Clinical Research Participation

HOW OPPORTUNITY WAS FOUND:

My mom and David (the boss)’s mom are friends. The company also had job openings on their website, so I applied.

LENGTH: 8 weeks

LOCATION: Boston, MA, USA

FUN: ★★★★★

PERSONAL GROWTH: ★★★★★

DAY-TO-DAY LIFE:

  • 8:30am-5:00pm: Work

DESCRIPTION OF WORK/ACTIVITIES DONE:

The organization puts people in touch with clinical trials and clinical research. People would send in their requests for clinical trials, sort of their eligibility requirements, their conditions, their ages, locations, distance they’re willing to travel; I’d look up clinical trials for them, and condense the scientific language that these trials are described in in a more easy way for them to understand and send them their options.

HOURS WORKED PER WEEK: 32

PROVIDES:  $11/hr

TOP TIPS:

  1. The longer you work, the better your experience will be.
  2. Don't be afraid to be proactive.

MOST MEANINGFUL LESSON TAKEN AWAY:

The value of money, spending, and how great it feels to earn.

MORE NO-CRAP TALK:

The founder of this organization is a professor at Tufts, and he wrote about clinical research. I got to write a chapter for this book, which was really unexpected and fun.
